The legal case against Haitian pastor Marckenson Dorilas continues to advance after a court hearing in Port-au-Prince, despite online speculation claiming he had been released.
According to reports, the judge did not order Dorilas’ release. He was returned to prison following Wednesday’s hearing.
Reports also state that the Government Commissioner gave Dorilas’ attorneys until Wednesday to seek an agreement with the initial complainants in the case.
In addition, at least 15 more people have reportedly filed complaints against Dorilas, adding to the allegations already under investigation. Prosecutors accuse him of collecting money from people while allegedly promising to help them leave the country.
The additional complaints could further complicate the case. The allegations have not been proven in court, and Dorilas remains entitled to the presumption of innocence while the legal proceedings continue.
