Delcy Rodríguez prohibits the Venezuelan Police from detaining people without a judicial warrant

The president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, instructed the State security forces to strictly comply with constitutional guarantees regarding arrests and citizen rights.

“I have instructed the security forces that no person shall be detained without a judicial warrant, except in cases of flagrant commission of a crime. The responsible exercise of politics is guaranteed for everyone. The doors are open,” asserted the President.

Regarding the regulatory framework, the Head of State endorsed the proposal to reform the Law against Hatred presented by the National Assembly and endorsed by the Supreme Court of Justice: “The Law against hatred had been applied abusively. I asked for it to be reformed to eliminate the criminal sanctions provided for in this instrument, strengthening its educational character,” she stated.

Finally, the President recalled that peaceful protest is a constitutional right that must be exercised with respect for the physical and moral integrity of security officials.
