First images of the plane that crashed in Colombia

An airplane that had disappeared near noon this Wednesday in the department of Norte de Santander, northeast of Colombia, was found crashed. In the images already circulating on social media, the damage suffered by the aircraft can be seen, which crashed in the Curasica sector, rural area of the municipality of La Playa de Belén, according to Caracol Radio.

According to the aforementioned media, which cites authorities from the Unified Command Post (PMU) in Norte de Santander, there are no survivors. In the plane there were 15 people on board —13 passengers and two crew members—. It was known that among the travelers are Congressman Diógenes Quintero and the candidate for the House of Representatives Carlos Salcedo.

Journey

The aircraft, a Beechcraft 1900 from the airline Satena identified with registration HK4709, was making the journey between Cúcuta, the departmental capital, and Ocaña, after having completed an initial route from Olaya Herrera airport in Medellín, in Antioquia. Earlier, the airline detailed that the flight took off from Cúcuta at 11:42 a.m. [local time] and was scheduled to land at the Aguas Claras airport in Ocaña at 12:05 p.m. “It reported its last contact with air traffic control at 11:54 a.m.,” the company indicated.
