First Lady of Ecuador loses the third child she was expecting with President Noboa

Quito.- The first lady of Ecuador, Lavinia Valbonesi, lost the third child she was expecting with the country’s president, Daniel Noboa, after suffering a complication during her pregnancy that forced her to undergo an emergency procedure, as reported this Saturday by the Minister of Government, Nataly Morillo.

“With deep regret, I inform the country that the presidential family is going through the painful loss of their third child, Stefano Noboa Valbonesi”, stated Morillo on his X account.

The official explained that Valbonesi underwent an emergency procedure due to a complication during her pregnancy and that, “unfortunately, Stefano passed away”.

The minister expressed her condolences to the first lady and to Noboa, and conveyed to the presidential family her “respect, solidarity and affection in this moment of deep pain”.

For her part, the Minister of Education, Gilda Alcivar, also lamented the loss on the social network X.

“An angel in heaven for both. My deepest embrace to President Daniel Noboa and First Lady Lavinia Valbonesi at this time”, he/she wrote.

In addition, the president of the National Assembly, Mishel Mancheno, extended her “solidary embrace” to Valbonesi and Noboa in the face of an “irreparable loss”; and the Minister of Labor, Cynthia Gellibert, noted that “Ecuador accompanies you with respect and strength”.

As a sign of mourning, the flag at the Carondelet Palace, seat of the Ecuadorian Presidency in Quito, will remain at half-mast for three days.
