Thousands of young people had been waiting for him for hours
Madrid.- Half a million people attended the Paseo de la Castellana and the Plaza de Lima in Madrid this Saturday afternoon to attend the vigil with the youth led by Pope Leo XIV, the first massive event of his visit to Spain.
The Government Delegation estimated the number of attendees at this vigil at 500,000 as of 8:40 PM local time this Saturday, the same attendance figure provided by the Vatican.

To attend the vigil, Leo XIV took a second tour in the popemobile, which he boarded at the Plaza de San Juan de la Cruz after leaving the Nunciature, where he is staying during his visit to Madrid, in a closed vehicle.
Thousands of young people had been waiting for him for hours and joined the 130,000 people who, according to the Government Delegation in Madrid, took to the streets of the capital to greet the Pope during his first popemobile tour, between the Royal Palace and the Apostolic Nunciature this Saturday morning.
