Iranian Revolutionary Guard: "The Strait of Hormuz has been closed, we will attack and burn any ship that passes through it"

The Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important maritime passages, has been closed and any vessel attempting to pass through it could be targeted for attacks, warned this Monday Ebrahim Jabbari, a senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

“The Strait of Hormuz is closed,” he declared. “Anyone who wants to pass, our selfless heroes of the IRGC Navy and Army will set fire to those ships,” stated Jabbari.

“Do not come to this region. We will not allow a single drop of oil to leave,” concluded the commander.

The announcement comes amid the military escalation between Iran, on the one hand, and Israel and USA, on the other, which began on the morning of last Saturday after an offensive against the Islamic Republic.
In response, Iran launched several salvos of ballistic missiles towards Israel, as well as against US bases located in Middle Eastern countries.
On March 1, the IRGC announced that the Persian nation hit three tankers from the US and the United Kingdom with missiles.
