The high distinction was presented by the Italian ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Stefano Queirolo Palmas, in a ceremony where Mr. Cabrera was accompanied by his wife Ana Antonia Vidal de Cabrera, his son Rafael Cabrera, the mayor of Santiago and Ulises Rodríguez, among other personalities. Archimedes Cabrera expressed his gratitude for the high distinction from the Italian government. ”I am honored, on behalf of my family and the historical relations of our people, to proudly wear this prestigious decoration that symbolizes virtue and excellence. I reaffirm my commitment to continue consolidating friendship and cooperation between our nations,”” Cabrera expressed. The Commander’s Degree is a high distinction awarded to people with proven track records, not for an isolated event; it recognizes leadership, influence, and sustained contributions to Italy or to the projection of Italy outside its territory. It is a State recognition granted by the President of the Italian Republic at the proposal of the Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani, after a formal evaluation process, implying that the contribution was verified and considered relevant; it has institutional, diplomatic, and honorary value.
