Buenos Aires.- Argentine President Javier Milei departed this Sunday for the bunker of his party, La Libertad Avanza (LLA), near the city of La Plata, to await the results of the legislative elections in the province of Buenos Aires, which have gained national relevance as they serve as a test for the Government.
The president left for La Plata, about 60 kilometers from the Argentine capital, in a vehicle from the presidential residence in the town of Olivos with his sister and Secretary General of the Presidency, Karina Milei, after 7:30 p.m. local time (10:30 p.m. GMT).
La Libertad Avanza chose to establish its headquarters in an event hall on the outskirts of the provincial capital -La Plata-, in a practically unpopulated and difficult-to-access area, where, after the closing of the vote, a significant perimeter fence had already been set up, even though supporters of the party had not yet arrived.
The province experienced a calm election this Sunday without major incidents, and the first official results are expected to be released from 21:00 local time (00:00 GMT on Monday) or when 30% of the votes have been counted.
A total of 41,189 polling stations were enabled for the vote, to which 14.3 million people were summoned to elect 46 deputies and 23 senators of the provincial Legislative, which has 92 seats in the Lower House and 46 in the Senate.

In this day, members of the deliberative councils of the 135 Buenos Aires municipalities were also elected.
Among the main fronts that competed this Sunday is Fuerza Patria, a unity alliance of various sectors of Peronism, including those led by the current Buenos Aires governor, Axel Kicillof, former Argentine President Cristina Fernández (2007-2015) and former Economy Minister Sergio Massa.
Their main rival is LLA, which for these provincial elections has forged an alliance with Propuesta Republicana (Pro), a conservative party led by former Argentine President Mauricio Macri (2015-2019).
Both the Milei government and Peronism – the main opposition force in Argentina – chose as a political strategy to present the provincial election as a key battle to position themselves strongly for the national elections on October 26, in which the composition of the Argentine Parliament will be partially renewed.
The province of Buenos Aires has a significant electoral weight as it concentrates 38.6% of Argentina’s population.
