“One day, everyone here will die”: Ecuadorian priest’s final words before fatal accident

“ One day, everyone here will die,” were the words spoken by Ecuadorian priest Patricio Alfredo Sánchez Molinari during Mass on Saturday, October 17, shortly before a large wooden cross fell on him at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The 53-year-old priest had been reflecting on death, faith and the importance of how people use their time.
During his homily, Sánchez Molinari encouraged worshippers to dedicate more time to God, their families and loved ones. The Mass was being livestreamed on social media, capturing the moment the suspended cross fell and struck him on the head. Despite the immediate efforts of parishioners to help, the priest died at the scene.
