Panama City.- Panama denied entry to the country to a Canadian citizen due to his alleged ties to “extremist organizations” such as Hamas, the National Migration Service (SNM) reported this Sunday.
The Canadian, who was not identified, was denied entry after “links to organizations that pose a threat to international peace, security, and stability, as well as sympathy for the extremist group Hamas” were detected, the immigration entity noted in a statement.
He adds that because of this “the citizen was returned to his country of origin”.
The detection occurred during the verification procedures that Migration applies to every person attempting to enter through Tocumen International Airport, the country’s main airport and regional hub.
Following the cross-referencing of information and risk analysis, the alert was confirmed and the inadmissibility protocol was activated for this case, the official information details.

“No indication is overlooked; anyone who poses a security risk or maintains ties with groups that promote violence will find an immediate and forceful response from immigration units at our checkpoints,” indicated the SNM.
