Moscow.- The president of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, assured the Russian leader, Vladimir Putin, this Tuesday that his country will “prevail” in its confrontation with the United States, during a meeting held within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Kyrgyzstan.

“I am convinced that we will win,” Pezeshkian stated during the meeting, in which he maintained that the actions of the United States against the Islamic Republic of Iran “cannot be justified in any way.”

Pezeshkian asks the United States to comply with the memorandum

The Iranian president recalled that the Memorandum of Understanding signed in June between Washington and Tehran remains in effect, while both countries resumed attacks on Monday after a pause of more than a month.

“If the United States returns to compliance with the obligations included in the memorandum, then we will also respect them,” stated Pezeshkian.

The Iranian leader also questioned the unilateral actions taken by Washington while, as he said, the White House claims to defend democracy and human rights.

“They killed our scientists, our innocent schoolchildren and commanders. This cannot be justified,” he stated.

Iran seeks support from Russia in the face of United States sanctions

Pezeshkian considered that, with the support of Russia and the other members of the SCO, Iran will be able to “evade” the unilateral measures and sanctions imposed by the United States.

“I am sure that we must confront the unilateral policy of the U.S. And we will be able to neutralize the sanctions they approve against us. In these forums like the SCO and other organizations we can bypass all sanctions and cooperate at a multilateral level,” he pointed out.

The Iranian president thanked Putin for Moscow’s support during the conflict, especially in the face of sanctions and in international arenas such as the United Nations (UN).

For his part, the Russian president highlighted Iran’s position and assured that Moscow has tried to help the country during this period.

“Russia admires your courage and stoicism in the fight for your national interests. In this difficult period, we are trying to help you in every way possible. We have already talked about it. We are already supplying what you need,” Putin noted.
