Jerusalem.- The Ministry of Health in
Gaza registered this Tuesday ten people dead from hunger and malnutrition, including two babies, according to its daily report published this Wednesday, which refers to data from the previous day.
As Zaher al Waheidi, head of the count of the deceased in the ministry, detailed to EFE, the two children were babies of one year old.
With these new deaths, the Health Ministry, controlled by the government of the Islamist group Hamas, raises the total number of deaths from this cause in the Palestinian territory to 313 since the Israeli offensive began on October 7, 2023, including 119 children.
Most of those who have died from causes related to malnutrition and hunger in Gaza have lost their lives during the last two months, after an almost total blockade on the entry of food and medicine into the enclave by Israel, which controls all access.
In recent weeks, and after strong international pressure, Israel has somewhat expanded the entry of food into Gaza and has again allowed shipments of pallets with humanitarian aid from the air, although the amount of supplies entering is still not enough to meet the needs of the population, according to the UN.
More than 62,000 people, according to local health authorities, have died in the Palestinian enclave since the beginning of the war more than 20 months ago, in a situation denounced as genocide by countries such as South Africa before the International Court of Justice (ICJ).
