La Paz,.- The number of fatalities from the accident of a military money-carrying plane registered last Friday in Bolivia increased to 24, reported this Monday the regional commander of the Police, Heriberto Valencia, after the discovery of another vehicle under the crashed aircraft.

Authorities confirmed today that the 51 people arrested face charges of alleged criminal association and damage to state property, in connection with the disturbances recorded after the accident. Because the aircraft was carrying a significant sum of money destined for the Central Bank of Bolivia, numerous bills were scattered in the vicinity of the airport, several people tried to collect the money, which forced the intervention of firefighters and the police to disperse the crowd and secure the area. For his part, the Minister of Defense, Marcelo Salinas, indicated that investigations will be carried out to clarify the causes of the C-130 aircraft accident. The Aeronautical Accident Investigation Board (JIAA), which already safeguards the aircraft’s black box, will be the body in charge of analyzing the operational, mechanical, and flight aspects. This entity will be the only one authorized to issue official information about the case. The minister added that, in parallel, two other additional investigations will be carried out, one by the aircraft manufacturer and another by the insurance company, in order to clear up any doubts about the transparency of the process. Likewise, Salinas stated that the insurance of the crashed plane covers damages to third parties, referring to the assistance that will be provided to the families of the deceased, the injured, and those whose vehicles were affected by the accident.
