In parallel, it transpired that train drivers had warned Renfe and Adif hours earlier about the risks to railway safety arising from the storm, including falling trees on the tracks. After two derailments, the Semaf union requested the suspension of the Rodalies service, denouncing a lack of guarantees for passengers and workers. From the institutional sphere, the Second Vice President of the Government and Minister of Labor, Yolanda Díaz, expressed her sorrow at the death of a trainee machinist and sent a message of condolences to his family, also wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.
