The Peruvian National Police arrested members of the criminal gang known as El Terror de la Timba this Wednesday, which operated in the Callao area extorting musical groups and local owners, local media reported. In addition, they are being investigated for the murder of a singer and a dancer committed last October.
The procedure carried out in Lima was possible thanks to the intervention of the Cybercrime Investigations Directorate, which carried out a cross-referencing of IP addresses and the cell phone from which the threats were sent. In this way, the location of the gang members was established.

During the police operation carried out in a home, three people were
arrested. One of them was identified as Jean Pierre Ortega Valverde, the
leader of the gang. In addition, Rina Ramírez, alias ‘Loca Rina’, and a minor, nicknamed ‘La BB’, were arrested. Jean Pool Ortega Valverde, the detainee’s brother, and two other people in charge of opening bank accounts in the name of a minor to receive money from the extortions are also part of the criminal group.

threatened and controlled seven musical bands, which they forced to perform in certain venues, whose owners were also extorted. They would even have demanded payments during private events. “They forced the orchestras to perform in these venues as there was no contractual link. Neither did the orchestra pay the venue nor did the venue receive from the orchestra or another show producer”,
explained the general commander of the Police, Óscar Arriola.
Double crime
This criminal gang is also under investigation for a
double crime committed last October in Callao, which had as victims salsa singer Johan Mora, 28, and dancer Ariana Cañola, 19.
The attack occurred when they were about to appear at a party and, according to witnesses, three people arrived suddenly and shot them at point-blank range.
