The President of the United States, Donald Trump, called the decision of some European countries to recognize the sovereignty of Palestine “foolish”, according to declared during a joint press conference at the White House with the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu.
“Several countries have foolishly recognized the Palestinian state, as you know, some of our European friends, allies, good people,” he said.

“But I think they really do it because they are very tired of what has been happening for so many decades; they have been presidents and prime ministers for years. And during this time they have to do with the Middle East, the only thing they do is talk about the same thing over and over again.”
He emphasized that Europeans simply seek for the situation to return to normal. “They want it to go back to normal, and nobody wants it more than me, I think Bibi [Netanyahu] too. But the people of Israel want it. They really want it,” he added.

The U.S. maintains its refusal, in contrast to the decision of more than 150 nations of the world.
