Washington.- U.S. President Donald Trump stated this Saturday that he had postponed “an attack” against Iran after “reaching the basis of an agreement” that includes the “immediate and complete opening” of the Strait of Hormuz.
“Iran and other Middle Eastern countries have asked us to postpone any attack, given that the foundations of an agreement have been reached. This would include the immediate, complete and total opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the end of Iran’s nuclear threat,” Trump indicated on his Truth Social account.
The U.S. embassies in the Middle East urged their citizens to consider leaving the region due to the unstable situation in the Middle East caused by crossfire attacks, the U.S. naval blockade on Iranian ports and vessels, and Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

“In response to this request, and for the future benefit of the WORLD—as well as the survival of a prosperous and successful Iran—(Trump) agreed to cancel the attack, provided that an AGREEMENT is reached quickly. Israel joins in this commitment. Let’s get to work and make it happen!” declared the American president.
Final agreement?
Washington and Tehran signed a framework of understanding on June 17 to end the war that Israel and the United States began on February 28, which allowed for the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and the start of a two-month negotiation period to reach a definitive nuclear agreement.
However, since then, cross-attacks have been repeated and Trump declared the framework of understanding terminated, while Iran announced once again the blockade of the maritime passage through which 20% of the world’s oil trade passed before the war.
Over the last few weeks, violence has increased in the Middle East with the death of American soldiers in Iranian attacks against Jordan and Iraq and the entry of Saudi Arabia into the conflict in a joint attack with the United States against Iranian militias in Iraq.
Trump, who always maintained that talks were continuing with Tehran, did not clarify in today’s announcement the terms that form the basis of this agreement, whether it is a new roadmap or the continuation of the negotiations already initiated.
