U.S. President Donald Trump said Thursday that he is seriously considering launching larger military strikes against Iran, while claiming Tehran is not yet ready to reach an agreement despite seeking negotiations.
Speaking to Axios, Trump said Iranian officials want to negotiate but have not shown a willingness to make a deal.
“They haven’t suffered enough yet,” Trump said.
The president also said he is weighing the possibility of resuming large-scale military operations against Iran, including attacks that would exceed those carried out during Operation Epic Fury. He stressed that no final decision has been made, noting such action could have significant consequences.
“I’m considering a massive attack, bigger than ever before. I’m close to making a decision. We’re fully prepared for it,” Trump told the outlet.
Trump added that Israel “would join in two minutes” if he requested its participation but said the United States does not need its ally to begin a new offensive against Tehran. He also suggested Israeli involvement could trigger retaliatory attacks from Iran.
