Burger King employee sparks backlash after wearing blackface makeup for Halloween

A white Burger King employee was filmed serving customers at a drive-through window while wearing blackface makeup during Halloween, sparking widespread criticism after a Black customer shared the video on Facebook. The footage showed the employee wearing her uniform, cap and headset while interacting with customers. When questioned about her appearance, she reportedly responded, “I’m just Black today.” The incident was reported to have occurred in Faribault, Minnesota, although Burger King did not confirm the location.

The video was shared on October 31 by customer Shavelle Devine and later circulated across social media platforms. Burger King said it was aware of the footage and described the employee’s conduct as unacceptable. The company added that the franchise owner was addressing the incident with the employee and management team to ensure everyone understood why the behavior was inappropriate and to prevent it from happening again.
