VIDEO: JD Vance on his 4-year-old daughter: “I realized, despite my best efforts, I raised a Democrat”

U.S. Vice President JD Vance sparked criticism after jokingly calling his 4-year-old daughter, Mirabel, a “Democrat” during a campaign rally in Rome, New York, ahead of the midterm elections.

Vance told the audience that he had encouraged his children to donate toys to the Toys for Tots charity. According to his account, Mirabel suggested donating two of her brother’s toys rather than giving away any of her own.

“I realized, despite my best efforts, I raised a Democrat,” Vance joked, adding that she was “stealing her brother’s toys to give to somebody else.”

The remark drew laughter from some people at the rally, but it also prompted criticism on social media. Some users accused Vance of shaming his young daughter for showing generosity, while others pointed out the irony of portraying charitable giving as a political insult.

One commenter wrote that the child showed more compassion than her father, while another described the remark as an attempt to use a 4-year-old as a political punchline.

Vance has four children, ranging in age from four months to nine years, according to the report.
