FOX Weather storm specialist Mike Seidel was about to go live from Kaua‘i, Hawaii, when a powerful wave suddenly crashed into him, nearly knocking both him and the camera operator to the ground.
Seidel is in Hawaii covering the impacts of powerful Hurricane Lowell.
Hurricane Lowell is passing just to the west of the islands, but its wind, rainfall and storm surge footprint are within range to cause impacts as we expected. At the time of writing early Tuesday morning, the islands of Kauai and Niihau in Hawaii were under a hurricane warning. A tropical storm warning was in effect for Oahu, which includes the city of Honolulu.
