The Twin Towers rose over the New York skyline once again, this time made entirely of light.
On the night of September 9, 2,977 drones illuminated New York Harbor to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, with one light representing each person who lost their life in the 2001 attacks.
The tribute, titled 2,977 Lights Over New York Harbor, was created with the participation of victims’ family members, survivors and first responders. For several minutes, the drones recreated the full-scale silhouette of the Twin Towers over the harbor.
The presentation was a one-time event, with no additional performances announced.
This Friday, September 11, New York will once again hold the traditional Tribute in Light, featuring two blue beams visible from 7:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.
A tribute that once again turned New York’s sky into a symbol of remembrance.
