Alcides Escobar is the MVP of the Final Series with the Leones del Escogido

SANTO DOMINGO.– At his recently turned 39 years old, veteran shortstop Alcides Escobar once again wrote his name in golden letters in baseball history, by being proclaimed champion and Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Final Series with the Leones del Escogido in the 2025-2026 season of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM).

The Leones del Escogido won the title after defeating 1-0 to the Toros del Este in the fifth game of the Final Series, a result that allowed them to win 4-1 in the series and conquer their 18th crown, in addition to achieving their sixth bicampeonato in the history of the franchise. Escobar, known as the “Sabanero Mayor”, was a key player throughout the final, providing leadership, experience, and decisive performances both offensively and defensively, merits that earned him the distinction as MVP of the decisive series. With this new achievement, Alcides Escobar continues to expand a historic career, adding a new ring to an enviable collection that includes championships in the World Series, LVBP (Venezuela), Caribbean Series and now LIDOM, consolidating himself as one of the most complete and successful players of his generation.
