The decisive hit came at loanDepot park during a game in which the Marlins wore teal retro uniforms, on a day that ended with a comeback. With the victory, the franchise starts 3-0 for only the third time in its history, adding to the 1997 seasons — when they won the World Series — and 2009, when they started 4-0. In the ninth inning, Xavier Edwards led off the episode with a single, then Liam Hicks batted for a double play, but Venezuelan Javier Sanoja hit a double that kept the inning alive. It was then that Caissie, who had entered as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning, hit the home run against reliever Victor Vodnik to leave Colorado on the field.
Caissie, ranked as the number 40 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, has started his career with the Marlins in great form, batting 5-for-10, with two doubles, a home run, and four RBIs. The victory also marked the first comeback of the season for Miami, which has started the campaign showing both offensive solidity and from the bullpen in the final innings.
