HOUSTON. Dominican third baseman Junior Caminero continues to headline one of the most impressive offensive streaks of the season by hitting his 26th home run of the campaign this Saturday, extending his run to 11 home runs in his last 11 games.
The young Tampa Bay Rays star, who will turn 23 this Sunday, opened the game against the Houston Astros by punishing starter Hunter Brown with a powerful 437-foot blast to left field.
The home run came on a full 3-2 count, after connecting with a slider that stayed in the middle of the plate. The hit left his bat at a speed of 107.5 miles per hour, according to Statcast measurements, and landed near the train tracks located behind the stadium’s left field.
With this performance, Caminero became the first Major League player to hit 11 or more home runs in a span of 11 games since Kyle Schwarber did it in the 2021 season.
The feat places the Dominican in an exclusive list of great hitters who achieved a similar streak, composed of Nelson Cruz (2019), Troy Tulowitzki (2010), Barry Bonds (2001), Sammy Sosa (1998), Mark McGwire (1998), Albert Belle (1995), Doug DeCinces (1982), Mike Schmidt (1976), Frank Howard (1968) and Harmon Killebrew (1962).
Caminero continues to establish himself as one of the top young figures in Major League Baseball and arrives in extraordinary form, having been selected as the starting third baseman for the American League for the 2026 All-Star Game, a recognition that confirms the impact of his outstanding offensive season.
