Escogido receives pitchers Germán and Reyes in return

SANTO DOMINGO.- The national and Caribbean champions, Leones del Escogido, made a trade with the Toros del Este this Tuesday, in which they acquired pitchers Domingo Germán and Samuel Reyes for infielder Francisco Urbáez.

Germán, 33 years old, has 7 years of experience in the Major Leagues, last pitching in 2024 with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Between 2017 and 2023 he was a member of the New York Yankees, the team with which he completed a perfect game in 2023 against the Oakland Athletics. In his years in the Major Leagues, the right-hander accumulated a record of 31-29, 4.54 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 561 strikeouts in 543.0 innings. Due to his status as a major league player, Germán’s participation in the LIDOM was limited. Between the 2017-18 and 2024-25 seasons, Germán only participated in 12 games, striking out 36 in 29.2 innings. However, in autumn-winter baseball, Germán was part of one of the 11 no-hitters that have been thrown in the history of the league. It occurred on November 16, 2020, against the Tigres de Licey at the Francisco A. Micheli stadium, on a day in which he worked the first four innings and combined with four other relievers who completed the feat. Reyes, 29 years old, participated this summer in the Atlantic Independent League with the Charleston Dirty Birds, where he had a 4-4 record and a 4.39 ERA, as well as 58 strikeouts in 53.1 innings. Between 2017 and 2024, he was part of the minor league circuits of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Chicago Cubs, and Washington Nationals. He stood out with a 3.58 ERA, 399 strikeouts in 397.2 innings, and a 1.26 WHIP. In the LIDOM, Reyes has not yet seen action, despite being selected by the Taurinos in the 2018 Rookie Draft. To Urbáez, the Leones wish him success in this new stage of his career. He played for Escogido between 2021-22 and 2024-25, accumulating 61 games and a .233 average. The 17-time national champions continue training at the New York Yankees academy in Boca Chica, with a view to the 2025-26 LIDOM season, dedicated to Don Juan Marichal, which will begin next October 15.
