SANTO DOMINGO.– The Board of Directors of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) will hold an extraordinary meeting this Monday at 10:00 a.m. to learn about and decide on the situation generated after the cancellation of the game between the Águilas Cibaeñas and the Toros del Este, corresponding to the Round Robin of the 2025-26 tournament.

The call arises after the president of LIDOM,
Vitelio Mejía, declared null the victory obtained by the Águilas last Friday, upon determining an
irregular registration of nine imported players in the roster of the day, exceeding the regulatory limit of eight.
The decision has generated discontent within the Cibaeña organization and has created a scenario of uncertainty in the standings, right at the final stage of the round-robin tournament.
Eagles’ Position
The Eagles’ directive has stated that, if LIDOM’s decision stands, the team’s participation in the game that would be played again against the Toros at the
Francisco A. Micheli Stadium in La Romana is not confirmed.
The president of the yellow team,
Víctor García Sued, indicated that if the annulment is reversed, both teams would be
tied with a record of 11-7, a situation that would force a
tie-breaking game to define the second finalist who will face the Leones del Escogido.
Key Meeting for the Round Robin Close
The representatives of the
six league teams will attend this Monday’s meeting, who must evaluate the arguments presented and define the regulatory path to follow, in a decision that will be decisive for the outcome of the Round Robin and the formation of the Final Series.
Preliminary reports indicated that the entire Eagles delegation
moved to La Romana on Sunday night, awaiting the resolution to be issued by the Board of Directors.
The decision to be made will set the immediate course of the championship and test the league’s institutional mechanisms at one of the most sensitive moments of the tournament.
