Santo Domingo. – The Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League announced that the 2026-2027 autumn-winter championship will be posthumously dedicated to Héctor Rizek Llabaly, a renowned businessman and founder of the Rizek Group, who recently passed away.

The decision was unanimously adopted by the Board of Directors, as a tribute to his career, business legacy, and support for the development of sports in the country. The league president, Vitelio Mejía Ortiz, highlighted Rizek Llabaly’s impact on Dominican society, emphasizing both his human dimension and his commitment to national progress. “With this dedication, we honor the memory of a man whose vision, integrity, and vocation for service left a deep mark. Don Héctor was an example of work and a constant ally of Dominican sports,” expressed Mejía Ortiz on behalf of the six teams that make up the league. LIDOM emphasized that this recognition seeks to preserve the legacy of a key figure in the business field, whose influence also extended to the promotion of sports and the development of the country. With this dedication, the next winter tournament will not only celebrate baseball, but also the life and contributions of a reference in Dominican society.
