LIDOM will hold the 2025 Rookie Draft this Wednesday with 235 players available

Santo Domingo. – The Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) announced that this Wednesday, September 10, starting at 7:00 p.m., the 23rd edition of the Tano Martino 2025 Rookie Draft will be held in the auditorium of the Sambil shopping center.

On this occasion, 235 players will be available to be chosen by the six franchises of the circuit, in a process that will take place over 16 rounds, according to the league in an official statement. Eligible prospects come from the organizations of the 30 Major League teams, as well as independent leagues and Asian baseball. Included are players who have reached at least the Low-A category as of August 1st, in addition to players from the Summer League who are 23 years old or older.

The selection order for the first round will be as follows:

  1. Toros del Este
  2. Gigantes del Cibao
  3. Leones del Escogido
  4. Tigres del Licey
  5. Águilas Cibaeñas
  6. Estrellas Orientales
However, due to prior agreements between teams, there will be variations in the sixth round, where the Escogido will also have the first turn of the Toros, and in the ninth round, in which the Licey will select first instead of the franchise from La Romana. The activity will be broadcast live by Digital 15 and through the official platform Lidom TV on YouTube. The Draft will serve as a prelude to the start of the 2025-2026 Winter Baseball Championship, scheduled for October 15th, a tournament that will be dedicated to Hall of Fame member from Cooperstown, Juan Marichal.
