Alberto Rodríguez wins LIDOM Rookie of the Year

SANTO DOMINGO.– The player of the Águilas Cibaeñas, Alberto Rodríguez, was chosen Rookie of the Year of the 2025-2026 championship of the Dominican Republic Professional Baseball League (LIDOM), after dominating the voting in a resounding way under the weighted evaluation system.

According to a statement issued by the league, Rodríguez accumulated a total of 305 points, including 52 first-place votes, widely surpassing the rest of the candidates thanks to his outstanding offensive performance during the tournament dedicated to Don Juan Marichal and in contention for the Copa Banreservas. The young gardener participated in 35 games, in which he recorded an outstanding batting average of .350, the product of 35 hits in 100 official at-bats, with three home runs, 19 RBIs and 15 runs scored. His offensive impact was also reflected in an OBP of .425, slugging of .540 and an OPS of .965, figures that consolidated him as one of the main offensive pieces in the Cibaeña lineup during the regular season. In the voting, second place went to Jean Carlos Henríquez (Águilas Cibaeñas), who totaled 97 points, including six first-place votes. He was followed by Emmanuel Rodríguez (85), Ángel Genao (81), Allan Castro (Toros del Este) with 23, Eddy Yean (Estrellas Orientales) with 18 and Hansell Marcelino (Leones del Escogido) with 12.

Erik González, chosen Knight of the Year

In another of the individual awards, the batter of the Leones del Escogido, Erik González, was recognized as Man of the Year of the 2025-2026 championship. González obtained the most votes among the players participating in the tournament, receiving 12 votes, a distinction that recognizes the player who best represents the values of companionship, respect for the game, and exemplary conduct on and off the field. Nine of the votes obtained by González came from players of the Toros del Este, Estrellas Orientales and Gigantes del Cibao, with three votes contributed by each of those franchises.
