Kansas City.— The Tampa Bay Rays continue to demonstrate why they are one of the most solid teams in the Major Leagues, defeating the Kansas City Royals 5-2 at Kauffman Stadium, thus completing a three-game sweep and adding their eighth consecutive victory.
Although the outstanding home run streak of Dominican Junior Caminero came to an end after six consecutive games hitting a homer, the Tampa Bay team maintained its high collective level to continue prevailing.
With this victory, the Rays improved their record to 51-33 and achieved their ninth sweep of the season, the most in the Major Leagues. During this winning streak, the team has outscored their opponents by a wide margin of 52 runs to 15, solidifying their position at the top of the American League East.
Left-hander Ian Seymour was one of the big stars of the night, delivering a brilliant six-inning start in which he allowed just three hits, one run, issued one walk, and struck out eight, tying his career high.

Offensively, Cedric Mullins was decisive once again by hitting a two-run home run in the fifth inning, extending the Rays’ lead to 5-1. Mullins is in a great rhythm, having hit a home run in three consecutive games and seven total since the beginning of June.
The bottom of the lineup also contributed significantly. Chandler Simpson had three hits and stole his 20th base of the season, while several players contributed to a decisive three-run rally during the second inning.
Defensively, Taylor Walls starred in one of the most spectacular plays of the game by making an over-the-shoulder catch in outfield territory, an action that energized his teammates and reaffirmed his reputation as one of the best infield defenders.
Despite the end of Caminero’s streak, Tampa Bay made it clear that their current success is built on the depth of their roster, solid pitching, and high-level defense. The Rays continue their ascent and are shaping up to be one of the most dangerous teams heading into the second half of the season.
