Ronald Acuña Jr. raises alarms in Atlanta after leaving injured against Chicago

Chicago. The Atlanta Braves received worrying news Tuesday night after Ronald Acuña Jr. left the game against the Chicago White Sox due to left hamstring discomfort.

The Venezuelan star left the game during the 6-5 loss in ten innings and will undergo an MRI this Wednesday to determine the exact extent of the injury.
Concern arose in the fourth inning when Acuña hit a grounder toward third base and, while running toward first, began to show clear signs of pain. The outfielder continued walking with difficulty toward foul territory before slowly heading to the dugout, where he even slammed his helmet in frustration before disappearing through the tunnel toward the clubhouse.
Interim manager Walt Weiss tried to convey some calm after the game and expressed optimism that the injury is not as serious as the Grade 1 strain suffered by Acuña earlier in the season, a problem that had already forced him to miss 16 days of action.
However, uncertainty once again surrounds one of the main figures in Major League Baseball due to his recent injury history.
Acuña, 28, is batting .251 with a .373 on-base percentage, a .421 slugging percentage, and a .794 OPS, serving as a fundamental piece for a Braves team that is going through one of the best moments of the season with a 45-21 record.
Injuries have marked several important moments in the Venezuelan’s career. In 2021, he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and subsequently, in May 2024, he missed a large part of a campaign again after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

More recently, he was also out of action after re-aggravating that same left hamstring while running out a ground ball against Colorado on May 2nd.
Atlanta is now awaiting medical results as concern grows over a possible absence of its main offensive star in the midst of the fight to remain among the most dominant teams in the Major Leagues.
