Philadelphia. – Slugger Kyle Schwarber delivered one of the most memorable performances in Major League history by hitting four home runs in a single game, leading the Philadelphia Phillies in their matchup against the Braves at Citizens Bank Park.
With this feat, Schwarber becomes only the 21st player in MLB history to achieve such a feat, and the fourth in the Phillies franchise to join such an exclusive club, alongside legends like Mike Schmidt (1976), Chuck Klein (1936) and Ed Delahanty (1896).
The offensive spectacle began early, when in the first inning he punished with a huge solo home run of 450 feet to the second level of right field. In the third, he repeated with a two-run homer down the right field line. His third at-bat, in the fifth inning, produced a three-run home run to left-center field, and in the seventh he crowned the night with another three-run shot against reliever Wander Suero.
In total, Schwarber drove in nine runs and lifted the Philadelphia fans from their seats in an evening that places him alongside illustrious names in baseball.
Interestingly, this 2025 has set a historical record: it’s the third time this season that a player has hit four home runs in a game. Venezuelan Eugenio Suárez achieved it on April 26th with the D-backs (also against the Braves), while Nick Kurtz did it on July 25th wearing the Athletics uniform.
Schwarber’s performance strengthens his candidacy for the National League Most Valuable Player, and makes it clear that he is going through one of the best moments of his career, in a year that is already inscribed in the golden books of MLB.
