Santo Domingo, RD.– Six Dominican players are among the finalists for the
2025 Gold Glove Award, Major League Baseball (MLB) announced this Wednesday. Among them are
José Ramírez, Julio Rodríguez, and Luis Severino, who are seeking to win the prestigious award for the first time in their careers.

In the
American League, the nominated Dominicans are pitcher
Luis Severino (Athletics), first basemen
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Blue Jays) and
Carlos Santana (Guardians), third baseman
José Ramírez (Guardians) and center fielder
Julio Rodríguez (Mariners).
While in the
National League, the Dominican
Fernando Tatis Jr. (Padres) appears among the three finalists in right field.
The winners will be announced on
November 2 during a special broadcast on ESPN.
The selection process includes the vote of the
30 managers and up to
six coaches per team, who cast their votes on players from their league, excluding those from their own squad. These votes represent
75% of the final result, while the
SABR Defensive Index (SDI) contributes the remaining
25%.
Since 2022, the award for the
utility player is also given, through a special defensive formula developed between
Rawlings and
SABR, independent of the traditional process.
The presence of six Dominicans among the finalists reaffirms the defensive quality of the Dominican talent in the best baseball in the world, once again consolidating the wide representation of the Dominican Republic in the main MLB awards.

The
Rawlings Gold Glove Award is one of the oldest and most important recognitions in baseball, awarded since 1957 to players with the best defensive performance in each position.
