MINNEAPOLIS. – The Boston Red Sox reacted in time to avoid the sweep by defeating the Minnesota Twins 9-5 this Wednesday at Target Field, in a game marked by a costly defensive double error and the timely offense of Trevor Story.

The game changed course in the third inning, when an unusual double error by shortstop Luke Keaschall allowed two runs for Boston. Immediately afterwards, Story punished with a three-run homer that ignited the visiting offense and marked the beginning of the comeback.
The shortstop was key again later by connecting a tow truck double in the sixth inning, finishing the day with five RBIs to lead the Red Sox’s triumph.
From the mound, rookie left-hander Connelly Early offered a solid start by pitching six innings in which he allowed just two hits and one run, with two walks and five strikeouts. His performance was crucial in stabilizing a team that was coming off two resounding defeats in the series.
Boston, which had been widely surpassed in the first two games, thus managed to split its tour with a 3-3 record and travel with better spirits back home.
The team led by Alex Cora is now preparing to start a four-game series against the Detroit Tigers, before facing the New York Yankees, in an effort to regain ground and get back to playing for .500 in the season.
