Los Angeles — Slovenian Luka Dončić shone with 35 points to guide the Los Angeles Lakers to a 110-97 victory over the New York Knicks at the Crypto.com Arena on Sunday.

With LeBron James out for a second straight game due to elbow discomfort, Dončić took on the offensive lead. The Slovenian point guard had a solid performance, making 11 of 25 field goals, including five three-pointers, and completed his performance with eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Guard Austin Reaves was the Slovenian’s main offensive support, contributing 25 points, as well as five rebounds and four assists.
With the victory, the Lakers improved their record to 39-25 and caught up with the Denver Nuggets, led by Nikola Jokić, in fifth place in the Western Conference.
The Los Angeles team dominated the match from start to finish and was never at a disadvantage on the scoreboard, reaching a maximum lead of 23 points.
For the Knicks, Dominican Karl-Anthony Towns was the most outstanding, recording a double-double of 25 points and 16 rebounds. However, he struggled from the three-point line, missing his first four attempts and making his only three-pointer with less than three minutes left in the final quarter.
Jalen Brunson scored 24 points for New York, while Mikal Bridges had a quiet night, failing to score after missing all six of his field goal attempts.
Despite the loss, the Knicks maintain the third place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 45-21.
