SAN PEDRO DE MACORÍS. — A decisive shot by Florent Thamba with just 5.5 seconds left on the clock sealed the victory for the Metros de Santiago 87-86 over the Soles del Este, in an exciting regular season duel of the LNB Super League held at the Rolando Ramírez sports complex.

The final play occurred after a side throw that found Thamba, who did not hesitate and converted the shot that gave the victory to the Santiago team. With this result, the Metros improve their record to 7-1, tying at the top of the tournament, while the Soles remain in last place with a record of 1-6. The Santiago team staged a spectacular comeback, after being down by 17 points in the third quarter and by six in the final minute. The intense defense was key, added to the misses from the free throw line of the locals, who missed 14 attempts, including four consecutive in the final stretch. On offense, Anthony Fairley led the Metros with 21 points, followed by Oliver García with 19 and Raimer Santana with 13. Jordan Hall contributed 10 points, while Thamba added nine points and five rebounds. By the Soles, Jonathan Bello led the attack with 19 points. In the first half, the Suns dominated after a 15-2 run in the second quarter that allowed them to go into halftime with a 53-36 lead, supported by an aggressive defense that caused multiple turnovers in the opponent. However, the Metros adjusted in the second half and, with a stronger defense and better offensive execution, managed to complete the comeback and take a key victory in the initial stretch of the tournament.
