At 12 years old, she won five medals and the title of Champion of the Americas, among 16 countries
Santo Domingo.– Dominican artistic gymnastics added a new international achievement with the outstanding performance of Coral Victoria Caamaño Mateo, who was crowned All-Around Champion of the 2026 Americas Cup, held in Peru, establishing herself as the best gymnast in her category in a competition that brought together 1,400 athletes from 16 countries.
At just 12 years old, the Dominican athlete represented the Dominican Republic and The Kids Gymnastics Academy in the Level 7 category, where she delivered an outstanding performance to win the event’s top continental award.
During the competition, Caamaño won five medals: three gold, one silver, and one bronze, results that allowed her to take home the All-Around Champion trophy, an honor reserved for the gymnast with the best overall performance across the four apparatuses of women’s artistic gymnastics.

The young athlete’s success is the result of years of preparation, discipline, and perseverance. On this occasion, she was accompanied by her coach and choreographer, Holguer Barrera Espinal, who has been part of her competitive development.

In 2025, she was proclaimed Level 6 National Champion, after winning five gold medals at the National Championship organized by the Dominican Gymnastics Federation, representing the National District.
That same year she also had an outstanding international performance by being crowned champion in Vault and Floor during the International Gymnastics Cup, organized by the Antioquian Gymnastics Federation in Medellín, Colombia. Her triumph transcends the medals.
At her young age, Coral is already inscribing her name among the emerging figures of Dominican sports and sending a hopeful message about the present and future of national artistic gymnastics.
