Santo Domingo.– Dominican basketball is in mourning following the death of player Yeuri Rodríguez, who passed away after being shot several times during an alleged attempted robbery that occurred as he was arriving at his home, located in the San Carlos sector of the National District.
According to preliminary information, the athlete was attacked by unknown individuals as he was preparing to enter his residence on Benito González Street. The authorities have initiated the corresponding investigations to determine the circumstances of the incident and locate those responsible.
Rodríguez’s passing has caused dismay in the sports community, especially in San José de Ocoa, the province where he was recognized for his outstanding participation in local basketball.
Rodríguez was one of the main figures of the Village club, a team with which he managed to win several championships of the San José de Ocoa Superior Tournament and where he was recognized as Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 2018.
In addition, he represented his province in national 3×3 basketball competitions as a member of the San José de Ocoa team.
