Santo Domingo.- The executive director of the National Institute of Physical Education, Alberto Rodríguez Mella, highlighted this Monday the advances, results, and projects that he has been executing at Inefi since he took office three years ago at said institution, an appendage of the Ministry of Education (Minerd).

Rodríguez Mella detailed his work in favor of promoting physical education and school sports in all educational centers and humble sectors of society.

Among the results, Rodríguez Mella said that school sports are transforming lives and discovering talent in the country. “Sport is a tool for social transformation, not only in schools, but also in the community, from where several Dominican sports stars have emerged and will continue to emerge.”

Rodríguez Mella highlighted how the initiatives promoted by Inefi are opening new opportunities for thousands of students, allowing young athletes to be identified, awarded scholarships, and projected toward national and international stages.

“From athletes already competing in high-level events, to students who have excelled in disciplines such as chess, track and field, badminton, baseball, bowling, golf, and martial arts, school sports continue to demonstrate that talent is present in every corner of the country when the opportunities to develop it are created,” he added.

Rodríguez Mella listed the multiple works being carried out to strengthen school sports infrastructure, including the roofing and renovation of educational centers nationwide.

He insisted on the importance of sports as a tool for social transformation, the positive impact of “Inefi with the Neighborhood” on communities, and the role that disciplines like baseball have played in the development of thousands of Dominican families.

“We continue working to bring more opportunities, dignified spaces, and well-being to our students and communities,” concluded Rodríguez Mella.
