María José continues a long family tradition in the blue team: she is the seventh godmother of the Alsina family and the third of the Armenteros family. Her grandfather, engineer Jaime Manuel Alsina de Castro, was president of the club (2017-2019), and her great-grandfather, Manuel Alsina Puello, held the same position in 1957-1958. In addition, she follows in the footsteps of her mother, Carla Gabriela, and of several aunts and great-aunts who were also godmothers of the glorious team.Among his plans, he assured that he will support all the social action activities of the club, with emphasis on projects that impact children and youth, in addition to supporting the team in each match. The Licey Women’s Branch, chaired by Mercedes Elmúdesi de Fernández, is the only one of its kind in Dominican winter baseball and carries out extensive community work with programs such as Licey with the Community, Studying is First, Read and Learn, Licey Summer Camp and Licey Children’s League. With María José Armenteros Alsina as the new godmother, Licey reaffirms the value of family tradition, youth, and social commitment as an integral part of its identity.“Since I can remember, the values of pride, loyalty, and dedication have been pillars in my home. I grew up listening to stories of my grandfather and how he led the Tigers with passion. Today it is my turn to honor that legacy,” expressed the new godmother in her words of gratitude.
