Liranyi Alonso wins the women’s 200 meters and breaks the record

Paraguay.- Dominican Liranyi Alonso won the gold medal in the 200 meters final this Thursday, with a record for the specialty in the Junior Pan American Games. Alonso stopped the official clocks at 22 seconds 69 hundredths, thus breaking the record of 22.96 set by the Ecuadorian Anahí Suárez in the first edition of the Games held four years ago in Cali.

Colombian Marleth Ospino took the silver medal, completing the course in 23 seconds and 14 hundredths, while Guyanese Keliza Smith won the bronze with 23.42. The athletics events will be held until this Friday at the stadium of the Paraguayan Olympic Committee complex in Luque.
