RD falls 4-0 to Ukraine in Davis Cup series

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic team was eliminated from the possibility of advancing to the World Group I of the Davis Cup, after being swept 4-0 by Ukraine in the series held this weekend in Antalya, Turkey. On Friday, Ukrainians Vladyslav Orlov and Vyacheslav Belinsky made the difference from the start by defeating Dominicans Roberto Cid and Peter Bertran in the singles matches. On Saturday, in the doubles modality, the duo formed by Ovrcharenko and Orlov sealed the classification by winning with partials of 7-6 and 6-2 over Cid and Bertran, securing the third point of the series and Ukraine’s pass to the World Group I playoffs. Although the match was defined, a fourth match was played, in which Oleksii Krutykh defeated the young Dominican Enmanuel Muñoz with a score of 6-1 and 6-4.

The series was played at the Megasaray Club Belek complex, in Antalya, Turkey, between Friday and Saturday.
