June 18th marks Autistic Pride Day, an observance aimed at reducing discrimination and promoting acceptance for people with this neurological condition.
It is about raising awareness and sensitizing the population about neurodiversity, highlighting respect, support, and non-discrimination.
Origin of Autistic Pride
The creation of Autistic Pride Day in 2005 was an initiative of the group Aspies For Freedom, a non-profit organization that fights for the rights of autistic people.
With this, it aims to achieve positive changes and raise awareness in society regarding people’s prejudices towards Autism, joining the efforts of other organizations to commemorate this anniversary.
