The body starts aging between ages 20 and 30

Aging does not suddenly begin when the first wrinkles appear or the body starts losing agility. According to various longitudinal studies, several physiological functions reach their peak between the ages of 20 and 30 and then begin a gradual decline.

From that stage, aerobic capacity, muscle strength and mass, bone density, cognitive processing speed and collagen production in the skin can slowly decrease, often without noticeable changes at first.

These changes tend to become more evident after 45 to 50, when muscle loss, reduced cardiovascular capacity, declining bone density and changes in cognitive function may become more pronounced.

Vladimir Umriukhin, a doctor of medical sciences and head of the Department of Physiology at the First Moscow State Medical University, said that the main aging processes in the human body generally become more active after age 45. He noted that early age-related changes can appear between 25 and 30, while conditions commonly associated with aging, such as presbyopia and cataracts, often develop after 45.

Umriukhin also said that the rate of these changes depends significantly on lifestyle, physical activity and emotional well-being. He highlighted stress and recovery as important factors, noting that chronic stress can gradually deplete the body’s resources.

The specialist recommends maintaining moderate, regular physical activity adapted to each person’s physical capacity as a way to preserve health and support healthy aging.
