Jeff Bezos says AI could transform the American workweek

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos outlined an ambitious vision for the future of artificial intelligence and space exploration, saying AI-driven productivity gains could allow some families to live on a single income or work fewer hours.
In an interview with Fox News, Bezos said advances in AI could eventually make it possible for households to maintain their standard of living while relying on less traditional employment. He also suggested that increased productivity could lead to shorter workweeks.
Bezos also discussed his plans for Blue Origin and the broader future of space exploration. He said the United States should aim to beat China in putting humans back on the Moon and expressed confidence that an American lunar landing could take place in 2028.
He argued that the Moon should come before Mars because of its proximity to Earth and the resources that could support future missions. According to Bezos, lunar soil could eventually be used to manufacture solar cells, while oxygen produced on the Moon could be used as rocket propellant.
Bezos said the goal should not be a single mission but the establishment of a sustainable lunar base supported by regular cargo deliveries.
Blue Origin is also preparing to return its New Glenn rocket to flight in December, following an engine-test explosion in May. Bezos said the company is building additional launch infrastructure and ultimately wants to increase its launch frequency dramatically, with a long-term goal of eventually flying as often as every minute.
Bezos said he has invested $28 billion of his own money in Blue Origin and that the company recently raised $10 billion from outside investors. He also said an initial public offering could take place several years from now.
