France thanks firefighters battling deadly wildfires

French authorities paid tribute to firefighters battling wildfires across the country, thanking them for risking their lives to protect residents, animals and natural landscapes as multiple blazes continue to burn.
“While we go about our daily lives, firefighters are currently battling wildfires in France, sometimes risking their lives,” the statement said. “Respect and immense gratitude to these heroes who are protecting residents, animals, and our landscapes.”
The message comes as firefighters remain deployed to contain several wildfires that have threatened communities and large areas of vegetation in parts of France. Officials continue to monitor the situation and work to prevent the fires from spreading further.
