Tropical Storm Dolly is expected to lose organization and weaken into a tropical wave before reaching the Caribbean, according to the 5:00 p.m. Thursday bulletin from the U.S. National Hurricane Center (NHC).
Despite the expected weakening, rainfall associated with Dolly or its remnants could reach the Dominican Republic between Sunday and Monday, as the system moves across the region.
The NHC said rain associated with Dolly or its remnants could affect the Leeward Islands from Saturday night into Sunday, before reaching the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Hispaniola between Sunday and Monday.
The forecast reduces the likelihood that Dolly will approach the Caribbean as an organized tropical cyclone, but rainfall remains a potential impact for the Dominican Republic.
