Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET), reports that during the morning hours of this Saturday, skies will prevail with scattered clouds and little precipitation in most provinces of the national territory. In the afternoon, a tropical wave will increase humidity in the air mass, favoring an increase in cloudiness after midday.
These conditions will give rise to scattered downpours and isolated thunderstorms until the early hours of the night over Greater Santo Domingo, Hato Mayor, Monte Plata, Sánchez Ramírez, Monseñor Nouel, La Vega, San Juan, Elías Piña, and Dajabón.

Tropical wave under surveillance
A tropical wave is also being monitored, corresponding to the remnants of Tropical Storm DOLLY, located several hundred kilometers east of the Lesser Antilles.
The probability of it reaching tropical cyclone status again is low over the next few days, less than 10%. However, it is expected to generate heavy rains over the northeast and north of the Caribbean. Due to its location and future movement, it is important to monitor its evolution.

Likewise, information is provided regarding another disturbance located over the Gulf of America, with low potential to reach tropical cyclone status in the coming days. Due to its position and movement, it does not pose a danger to the country.
Heat
Temperatures will remain hot, with a stifling heat index. Therefore, it is recommended to drink water frequently, wear light, loose-fitting, and light-colored clothing, and avoid direct exposure to the sun without proper protection.
Children, pregnant women, and older adults are more vulnerable to the effects of high temperatures.

Tropical wave on Sunday
On Sunday, the tropical wave will move away from the area, while a drier air mass will prevail over the country. For this reason, little rain is expected in most provinces during the morning and afternoon hours.
At night, an active tropical wave, corresponding to the remnants of DOLLY, will gradually approach, so isolated downpours and thunderstorms are expected, mainly in the northeast, southeast, and the Central Mountain Range.

On Friday, Dolly was approximately 1,840 kilometers east of the Lesser Antilles, with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and moving westward at about 39 kilometers per hour.
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) expects the rains associated with Dolly to begin affecting the Leeward Islands between Saturday night and Sunday, then spreading toward the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Hispaniola between Sunday and Monday. Although the system may no longer maintain tropical storm characteristics, its remnants could generate rainfall in the Dominican Republic.

For Monday, starting at dawn, scattered showers are expected over the northeast and southeast coast of the national territory due to the proximity of the active tropical wave.

In the afternoon, occasionally heavy downpours, thunderstorms, and wind gusts are forecast, mainly over the Central Mountain Range and the border area.
