Flooding continues across 29 provinces and Bangkok, affecting more than 2.6 million people as authorities warn that river levels could continue rising in several areas. Videos from flooded communities also show fish and snakes swimming through streets and residential areas.
According to Thailand’s Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, flooding was affecting 167 districts, 890 subdistricts and 5,077 villages as of Tuesday morning. A total of 940,300 households and 2,602,309 people have been affected, while the cumulative death toll since September 16 has reached 23.
Authorities reported rising water levels in 14 provinces, stable conditions in six provinces and Bangkok, and falling levels in nine provinces.
Central Thailand remains among the hardest-hit areas. Samut Prakan recorded the largest number of affected residents, with 818,862 people impacted across six districts and eight reported deaths. In Pathum Thani, flooding affected 355,834 people and left one person dead.
In Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, 88,473 people were affected across eight districts, with one death reported. Authorities said water levels continued to rise after rivers overflowed following increased releases from the Chao Phraya Dam.
